TECHNOLOGY & GAMING

More Than a Bad Habit

Compulsive gaming, social media, or internet use is increasingly recognized as a behavioral addiction. It hijacks the same reward system as other addictions, and it often fills a gap left by anxiety, depression, loneliness, or trauma. We help you rebuild a balanced relationship with technology and treat what is driving the overuse, with a plan customized around your real life, not a digital detox slogan.

SIGNS IT MAY BE TIME

Patterns We Help With

  • Gaming or screen use that crowds out sleep, work, or relationships
  • Losing track of time online and feeling unable to stop
  • Irritability or anxiety when you cannot be on a device
  • Using screens to escape stress, sadness, or boredom
  • Declining grades, performance, or real-world connection

Call (877) 549-5102

Is technology or gaming addiction real?

Compulsive gaming and internet use are increasingly recognized as behavioral addictions. They respond well to evidence-based treatment, especially when underlying issues are addressed.

Do I have to give up technology completely?

Usually not. For most people the goal is a balanced, sustainable relationship with technology, not total elimination. We set realistic goals with you.

Do you treat related anxiety or depression too?

Yes. Overuse often sits alongside anxiety, depression, or ADHD-related challenges. Our care is dual diagnosis-forward, so we treat these together in one plan.

Do you take insurance?

We are private pay and also work with out-of-network benefits. We will explain costs and verify your specific benefits before you commit to anything.

When does gaming or screen use cross into addiction?

It is less about hours and more about control and consequences: using screens compulsively, struggling to stop, and seeing sleep, school, work, or relationships suffer. We assess it clinically and without judgment.

How can parents support a young person with gaming addiction?

We coach families on healthy limits, communication, and treating the anxiety or depression often underneath the overuse. We also host evening open family meetings where parents can learn and connect with other families.

How much does treatment cost?

It depends on the services in your customized plan. We are private pay and work with out-of-network benefits, and we will explain costs and verify your benefits before you commit to anything.

Do you offer virtual or telehealth sessions?

Yes. Many sessions and groups are available virtually, which can be a comfortable starting point for those who struggle with in-person settings.
