PHP & IOP
Real Structure, Without Residential Stay
Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) sit between weekly therapy and residential care. They give you meaningful structure, group and individual therapy, and clinical oversight, while you sleep at home and stay connected to your life. PHP is the more intensive of the two, with treatment most days of the week. IOP offers fewer hours, with more room to keep working or studying. After an ASAM-guided assessment, we recommend the right starting point and adjust as you stabilize.

OUR APPROACH
Why People Choose Heights for PHP & IOP
We keep groups thoughtful in size so you are known, not processed. We treat co-occurring mental health and substance use in the same plan, involve family when it helps, and offer evening scheduling for those who cannot pause work or school. Specialty therapies like EMDR, CSAT, neurofeedback, and somatic work can be built into your program. And we are clear about cost and out-of-network benefits up front, so your plan is customized around you, elevated by design and built for lasting change.

COMMON QUESTIONS
PHP & IOP, Answered
If you do not see your question here, call our admissions team and we will walk you through it.
What is the difference between PHP and IOP?
PHP is more intensive, with treatment most days of the week. IOP offers fewer weekly hours with more flexibility. Both include group and individual therapy while you live at home.
Can I work or go to school during PHP or IOP?
IOP, including our Evening IOP, is designed to fit around work or school. PHP is more time-intensive, and we will help you plan around it.
Do you provide medical detox?
No. We are an outpatient practice and do not provide medical detox. If detox is needed first, we help coordinate a safe referral and continue your care afterward.
Do you take insurance?
We are private pay and also work with out-of-network benefits. We will explain costs and verify your specific benefits before you commit to anything.
How many days a week is PHP or IOP?
PHP runs most days of the week for several hours; IOP meets fewer days. We confirm the exact schedule that fits you during your assessment and adjust it as you progress.
How long do people stay in PHP or IOP?
There is no fixed length. You start at the right intensity and step down as you stabilize. Some people spend a few weeks in PHP before moving to IOP and lighter outpatient care.
Can I attend IOP virtually?
Many IOP groups and sessions are available virtually, which makes it easier to stay consistent. We will help you find the right mix of in-person and online care.
How much do PHP and IOP cost?
Cost depends on the level and services in your plan. We are private pay and work with out-of-network benefits, and we will explain costs and verify your benefits before you commit to anything.
