Admissions & Insurance
Beginning care should feel clear, not complicated. One confidential conversation gives you space to explain what is happening, ask practical questions about treatment and cost, and understand the most appropriate next step. Heights Behavioral Health is a private-pay, out-of-network provider, so clinical recommendations are based on your needs rather than insurer authorizations.

How Admissions Works
A clear three-step process
Admissions is a clinical fit process, not a sales call. We begin by listening to what is happening now, what has already been tried, and what kind of support may be needed. We also answer questions about schedule, cost, privacy, and out-of-network reimbursement before you decide whether to move forward.
If outpatient care appears appropriate, a licensed clinician completes a comprehensive clinical assessment and recommends the level of care and services that fit the full picture. However, if another setting would be safer or more effective, we will say so and help identify a more appropriate next step.
Most admissions move from the first conversation to a clinical recommendation within days. When clinically appropriate, care may begin within the same week.
01
Connect
Speak With Admissions
Call (877) 549-5102 or submit the confidential form. An admissions team member will listen, answer initial questions, and learn enough to determine whether a clinical assessment is the right next step. There is no obligation to enroll.
02
Assess
Complete a Clinical Assessment
Next, a licensed clinician reviews your history, current concerns, co-occurring needs, goals, and the support already in place. The assessment is designed to understand the full picture rather than reduce the situation to one symptom or diagnosis.
03
Plan
Review the Recommendation
Afterward, we explain the recommended level of care, schedule, services, pricing, and next steps. If HBH is appropriate, we help you begin. If it is not, we offer an honest referral to a setting better matched to your needs.
Private Pay & Out-of-Network
Payment, explained plainly
HBH is a private-pay, out-of-network provider. You pay Heights Behavioral Health directly for care, and we explain the recommended level of care and corresponding cost before treatment begins.
Because we are not in network, clinical recommendations are not contingent on an insurer’s authorization process. In addition, if your policy includes out-of-network behavioral health benefits, your insurer may reimburse a portion of eligible charges.
We provide detailed superbills for submission and can help you understand the benefit information available to you. However, reimbursement is determined by your plan and cannot be guaranteed.
Direct Payment
What you pay
You pay HBH directly according to the recommended treatment plan. Before you commit, we review the cost in plain terms and explain what is included.
Documentation
What we provide
We provide detailed superbills that you can submit to your insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement. We also help clarify the benefit information available to you.
Reimbursement
What your plan determines
Your insurer determines whether a claim is eligible and how much, if anything, it will reimburse. HBH does not promise or control the final reimbursement amount.
What to Expect
From the first call to the first week
You do not need to arrive with the right diagnosis or know which program you need. We guide the process, make the practical details clear, and explain what comes next.
The First Call
What we will cover
- What is prompting the call and what support is being considered
- Questions about treatment fit, schedule, cost, and privacy
- Whether a clinical assessment is the right next step
- How soon the next step may be available
- An honest discussion of whether HBH appears to be a fit
The First Week
What starting care looks like
- Review the treatment plan and schedule with your clinician
- Meet the relevant members of your treatment team
- Begin therapy, groups, and medication evaluation as indicated
- Coordinate family involvement and superbill documentation when applicable
- Know exactly whom to contact with questions
Unsure Where to Begin?
You do not need to know the right level of care.
Admissions will help determine whether outpatient treatment at HBH is appropriate. If a higher level of care is needed first, we will explain that clearly and coordinate a trusted referral.

Common Questions
Admissions, cost, and insurance
These answers cover the questions we hear most often. For guidance about your situation, call admissions at (877) 549-5102.
Do you take insurance?
Heights Behavioral Health does not participate as an in-network provider. We are private pay and out of network, which means you pay HBH directly for care. If your policy includes out-of-network benefits, your insurer may reimburse a portion of eligible charges, but the insurer determines eligibility and payment.
How much does treatment cost?
Cost depends on the recommended level of care and the individualized treatment plan. During the admissions process, we explain pricing in plain terms before treatment begins so you can make an informed decision. There are no hidden fees.
What does out-of-network mean for me?
Out-of-network care means you pay Heights Behavioral Health directly. Then, if your policy includes out-of-network benefits, you may submit a claim and your insurer may reimburse part of the eligible cost. The amount, if any, depends on your plan.
What is a superbill?
A superbill is detailed documentation of the services you received and the amount charged. We provide superbills that you can submit to your insurer when seeking possible out-of-network reimbursement. A superbill does not guarantee that the insurer will pay the claim.
What happens when I call?
First, an admissions team member listens and learns what is prompting the call. We answer initial questions about treatment, schedule, cost, privacy, and fit. If a clinical assessment is appropriate, we explain how to schedule it. If HBH does not appear to be the right setting, we discuss a more appropriate next step.
How quickly can I start?
Often within the same week, when clinically appropriate and scheduling allows. After the assessment, we review the recommendation and help you begin as soon as the plan is clear and you are ready to proceed.
Is the admissions process confidential?
Yes. We handle admissions conversations and health information discreetly. We do not share information with an employer or family member without appropriate authorization, and we do not ask you to place detailed medical history or other sensitive information in the website form.
Can a family member or professional make the first call?
Yes. Parents, spouses, therapists, interventionists, and other professionals may contact admissions to discuss the situation and possible next steps. When appropriate, we coordinate with the person seeking care and the professionals or family members involved.
What if I need a higher level of care than outpatient treatment?
We will say so directly. If the assessment indicates that detoxification, residential treatment, or inpatient care is needed first, we coordinate a trusted referral. Later, when a step-down to outpatient care is appropriate, HBH may be able to continue the treatment plan.
