OUR COMMITMENT

Why These Guidelines Matter

Behavioral health is a sensitive, high-stakes topic, and people make real decisions based on what they read online. We hold the content on this site to a clinical standard. Every page about conditions, treatment, and recovery is written with clinical input, reviewed by a licensed professional, and grounded in reputable sources. This page explains exactly how we do that.

WHO WRITES OUR CONTENT

Created With Clinical Expertise

Our content is developed with direct input from Heights Behavioral Health’s master’s-level clinical team, whose specialized training includes CPT, EMDR, somatic experiencing, neurofeedback, and CSAT certification. Clinical content is led by Joni Ogle, LCSW, CSAT, our Chief Executive Officer and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Sex Addiction Therapist. Writers work alongside clinicians so that what you read reflects how we actually practice.

HOW WE REVIEW

Clinical and Medical Review

Before publication, content addressing conditions, diagnosis, treatment, or recovery is reviewed by a licensed clinician for accuracy, balance, and tone. Clinical review at Heights Behavioral Health includes oversight from Deborah Darnell-Drake, LCSW-S, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker-Supervisor. Reviewers confirm that information is consistent with current clinical understanding and the ASAM Criteria, that risks and limitations are stated honestly, and that nothing overstates outcomes or guarantees results.

HOW WE SOURCE

Evidence and Sourcing Standards

We rely on reputable, current sources, including peer-reviewed research, professional bodies such as the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), and recognized public health authorities. We aim to represent the evidence fairly, including its limits, and we avoid sensational claims. Where clinical consensus is evolving, we say so rather than overstating certainty.

ACCURACY & UPDATES

Corrections and Updates

Behavioral health guidance changes over time, and so does our content. We review and update pages periodically and note when material has been reviewed. If you believe something on this site is inaccurate or out of date, please contact us and we will review it promptly. This content is for education and is not a substitute for individualized medical or clinical advice.
